wanted from 01.08.2026 at the Department of Cardiology, Heidelberg.
The research group of Dr. Manju Kumari from the Department of Cardiology is seeking talented and motivated researchers to work as a PhD student on a DFG-funded grant. The project is part of CRC1550 focusing on studying ‘Cardiocrine signaling in immune-metabolic communication’. We have recently shown that interferon signaling plays a critical role in regulating cardiac immunometabolism during myocardial infarction. However, the effect of cardiocrine signaling in these processes remains unclear. This project aims to unravel the role of interferon signaling in the progression of cardiocrine signals to cardiac fibrosis. Utilizing excellent transgenic mouse models, hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes in combination with computational approaches for big data analysis, we will investigate the cardiac immunometabolic network regulating cardiac fibrosis. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to apply for grants supporting further research work to enhance career prospects. The candidate will be working in a diverse interdisciplinary team and thus ability to work independently, troubleshooting and multitasking skills, and capability of intellectual input for project development are preferred. Applicants should submit a motivation letter, two reference letters or contact details of the referees, CV, and publication list.
For further information please contact Manju Kumari via e-mail or phone.

Applications will be accepted until 25.06.2026 directly online.
